This post will likely resonate with coffee drinkers, but a nice fragrant tea can certainly have the same effect. On the weekends, I treat myself by substituting my morning cup of Dandelion Root tea with a cup of delicious organic coffee. Today, in my morning “Hot Beverage Meditation”, as I held my cup next to my chest, I was overtaken by the aroma of the drink that was wafting up my nostrils. The focus of this morning’s meditation would be on this sensorial experience. I was surprised at how easy it was to keep my focus on this delicious smell and how happy it made me feel. Who would have thought that something as simple as the smell of a cup of coffee could evoke this emotion? I reminded myself that sometimes it’s the small stuff that we don’t always take notice of that can influence our mood in a positive way. When I completed my meditation and opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was an adorable picture of my granddaughter, Aria. Ahhh, switching to the sense of sight with such delight! How grateful I am for the ability to enjoy what I was naturally blessed with AND what a beautiful way to start the day! Wishing you all the joy of everyday blessings!
